STEEN-SMITH COMPANY.
A very fair house greeted the first appearance of the above Company at the Opera House last night. The programme was of the variety character, full of change, charming and enjoyable. The absence of “ Nicola ” was disappointing to the audience, but to-night the “White Magician ” will appear and give some wondrous exhibitions of the art. The singing and dancing of Miss Lillie Smith .and Maggie Steen was appreciated and deservedly applauded while the ventriloquial powers of jMr Kind ley were marvellously good, surpassing in clearness, change, locale of the voice any previous effort made here. In comic song Mr C. Herbert was very amusing. “ The Dutch Courtship ’’ was amusing enough, while the “ Doctor’s Shop ” caused hearty laughter. To-night there will be an entire change of programme.
