Boards Practically Abolished.

Afcer confining its attention for three days to 'ho Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Bill, the Council this evening by 19 votes to 6 passed Clause 11, which practically abolished the Conciliation Boards,
The Minister in charge (Hon W. C. Walker) made a vigorous plea for the excision of the clause which ho declared had been pitchforked into the Bill in the small hours of the morning by an enemy of the Bill (Mr Willis.) It is an open secret further that the Premier also threw his weight into the scale for the excision of the clause.
The members of the Wellington Conciliation Board which body had been vigorously attacked by several of the Councillors who were present in the gallery and closely watched proceedings.
