A well attended meeting of the Greymouth CrlckeS Club and joining members was held at the Gilmer Hotel last night Mr A. A. Adams -in the chair. The chairman referred to the lateness of calling the meeting but hoped that the team would—as the members present that evening -indicated—be a successful one and that cricket which had latterly languished would again come to the front. The election of officers was then proceeded with as follows : President—Mr E. A. Wickes.
1 Vice-presidents, Messrs Adams, PoohiD, Cray, Jay, Moss, Kerr, Oxenham, Gieseking, Henry, and Dr Mcßreaty. Club captain, Mr Pochin. Vice-captain, Mr Knell. Secretary, Mr W. Bundle. Treasurer, Mr W. H. Perkins. Committee, Messrs Chalk, Young, Fricker, Murphy, M'Queen, D. M'Kay, and B. Phillips. Selection committee, captain, vice-cap-tain, secretary, and Mr Chalk. The association delegates—Messrs Chalk and Wickes.
Twelve new members were elected, and the Club's membership now numbers over 40, and commences the season under promising circumstances. Kindly reference was made to that enenthusiastic cricketer, Mr W. H. Perkins, who for 27 years has been an- active member, for many years Captain, and for the full term of 27 years treasurer to the Club.
It was decided that weather permitting the season would be formally opened on Saturday 2nd novembor, so that members will have a little time to get into form for the 23rd, inst, when the first match of the season will be played, Hokitika being the opposing team.
