The above Council met at 9 30 a.m. yesterday, the greater part of the morning | being engaged in finance. The report of the engineer on the • cemetery was read, which "was resolved to clear the timber off the j Blackball cemetery reserve. The question of levelling same was found to be impracticable, and it was decided that only the large stones could be removed.. The Engineer's report was read con- •' earning the application of Mr. O Bnen, but no action was taken. A short time ago £4O was expended on the Greenstone-Teremakau road, but owing to the very.heavy traffic the road has been subjected to, is now in need of repi It-was resold that action bo

taken against the wagoners and carriers using the road for the recovery of the £4O expended on repairing the said road damaged by them through extraordinary traffic. This claim is enforced under section 138 of the Public Works' Act, It was further resolved to inform those using the road that they would in future be held responsible for such damage. The Clerk was ordered to wire the Government, asking for the immediate expenditure of £SOO voted for mam Grey Valley road. The streets of Dunganville were ordered to be repaired under the supervision of the engineev. It was decided to ask the Government to erect a bridge on the Paroa-Teremakau road.
