London, October 1. Small bodies of Botha’s force have returned to the vicinity of Inhlazantze mountain and Tabaukulo Dauhauzolo, Dankau er’s commando, numbering 70, lias readied Babanango. Maritz and Tliciom burned many loyalists’ farms in retaliation for the executions and threaten more cruel reprisals. Private William Matthews, of the Sixtli New Zealand Contingent, was drowned in the Caledon River. \ Lieut. E. Grant, of the Seventh New Zealand Mounteds, is convalescent, and has resumed duty. There wore 109,413 whites in the concentration camps in September, including 54,333 children. 2411 died during the month, inclu iing 1964 children. The desertion of Imperial Yeomanry at Shorncliffe is officially denied. The War Office explains that to many of the Yeomanry arrears of pay arc due to the absence of proof of identification ; but arrangements arc completed to promptly settle all claims. The new War Office Board will be analogous to the Board the Admiralty cons ituted, consisting of Lord Roberts, the Par.iamentary and permanent undersecretaries and the chief military administrative officials.
