[PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.] Fatal fire at Dunedin. Dunedin, This Day. At 11 30 last night a fire was discovered in a lean-to on the reclaimed land occupied by Isaac Walker, well known about the city wharves. r The neighbors rushed into the place and dragged v\ alkor out, who was then insensible. He was severely burned about the head and neck. The doctor was procured after three-quarters of an hour delay, and pronounced life extinct, which was probably due to suffocation. He was 70 years of age.

Obtaining Money under false Pretences.

Auckland, This Day,

William Crawford with several aliases, has been arrested on a number of charges of obtaining money under false pretences and with deserting from H.M.S Mildura at Wellington. He was admitted to bail at £4OO with two sureties of £3OO. Other charges are pending.

Misrepresentation A case is being investigated by the police in which a man is alleged of having impersonated Sergeant Hardham V.C., of Wellington, the first recipient of the Victorian Cross. Hardham is a: present in Woodville.

A Military Funeral

Wanganui, Oct. 15

The funeral of the late W. P. Stuart took place to-day, and was very largely attended.

All the local volunteers were present including the Pipe Band.

The deceased was buried with full military honors. Committed for Trial.

At the Police Court to-day, a man named William M’Kay pleaded guilty and was committed for trial at the Supreme Court for theft of a bicycle.
