GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB.
A meeting of the Committee of the Greymouth Jockey Club was held at the Albion Hotel last evening. Present— Messrs Petrie (chairman) M’Kay, Walton, Ponsonby, Giesekicg, M’Carthy and Smith.
The programme of the Reefton Jockey Club for their Midsummer Meeting giving in stakes JE62O was received. General satisfaction was expressed at the advance made in Stakes, and the evident intention of the Club to keep well up with the times. The programme as announced was passed;— Trial Handicap of 40 sovs ; six furlongs Point Hack Handicap of 25 sovs ; seven furlongs. Inangahua Cup of 100 sovs ; one mile and a quarter. Hurdle Handicap of 45 sovs ; One mile and three quarters. Electric Handicap of 40 sovs ; six furlongs. Progress Hack Handicap of 25 sovs ; six furlongs. Midland Railway Handicap of 50 sovs ; one mile.
County Handicap of 40 sovs ; six furlongs. Fljiog Hack Handicap of 30 sovs ; six furlongs. Midsummer Handicap of 80 sovs ; nine furlongs. Hurdle Handicap of 40 sovs; one mile and a half.
Junction Hack Handicap of 25 sovs; seven furlongs. Boatman’s Handicap of 50 sovs; one mile.
Farewell Handicap of 30 sovs; seven furlongs. An application for an apprentice’s permit for E. Pyke was received from F. Hannigan countersigned by MrMcOreagh, a steward of the Nelson Club, to ride at the Blenheim races. Granted subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Nelson Jockey Club. The Secretary was instructed to write to all clubs under the Grey jurisdiction, pointing out the necessity of checking irregularities in form of application, and intimating that in future no applications would be entertained unless made out ‘ in due form.
