Grey Live Stock Report.

Messrs G. W- Moss and Co report yesterdiy’s stock sale at Preston yards as follows :

The entry consisted of 80 prime quality bullocks and 320 heavy crossbred ewes and wethers from the North Island. There was a large attendance of buyers and prices were considerably in advance of late ruling rates. We placed the following stock Fat Cattle—On account of Mr John McGregor, 40 prime heavy weight bul'ocks from £9 15s to £l2 ss.

hat Sheep—l7o prime heavy crossbreds, owes and wethers, 2os 3d to 23s 3d.

Mark Sprot and Co. report their sale at Preston road sale yards yesterday - The entry of fat stock consisted of about 80 hegd of prime cattle and 330

sheep, all imported from the North Island, Competition was brisk from all parts of the district and the whole of the entry was cleared at advanced rates. We sold on account of Messrs Abraham and Williams, 24 bullocks from £l2 12s 6d ; 22 heifers from £9 2s 6d.

Fat Sheep—There was keen competition for these. W r e disposed of 224 ewes and wethers at from 23s 6d to 235.

Tin—Spot £ll4 10s. Three £IOB 10s.

Mutton, North Island 3|d, other sorts unchanged. River Plate, heavy and light 3£d. Lamb and beef are unchanged. These prices are official quotations furnished by the Frozen Meat Trade Asoociation. The basis of quotations is sales of not less than 100 carcases o£ mutton or lamb or 25 quarters of beef. All quotations for mutton are for fair average quality. Quotations for New Zealand lamb do not include sales of small lamb, or heavies or inferior quality. The New Zealand and Australian Land Company has declared a dividend of five per cent.
