Rhodes’ Donation.

London, Oct 1,2.
Tho Spectator publishes the Ehoder-f-’chnadhorst’a correspondence relative to the subscription of £SOOO by Bhodes to the Liberal Party’s funds. Rhodes desired Home Rule with representatives at Westminister and tho retention of Egypt. Ho was horrified with Morley’s scuttle speech, and subsequently disturbed by Gladstone fore shadowing withdrawal from Egypt. If his (Rhodes's) wishes were not met ho desired that the money should be gh en to charity. There is no indication in the correspondence that Schnadhorat acquaintsd Gladstone of Rhodes’s offer, but ho calmed Rhodes’s anxiety by stating that Lord Rosebery’s policy as Foreign Secretary would be very different from that of Lord Granville’s pliant suppleness.
The newspapers blame Schnadhotst’s duplicity and* exbonerate • the Liberal leaders of bargaining with Rhodes.
