An army order published stated that during the present emergency in South Africa soldiers will be detained at the frontier three to six months beyond the period for which they enlisted, f>lo with £3 for each additional months service will be paid to each man as. compensation.
Elliot’s mobile column found 25 women concealed in a cave on a high mountain at Brandwater. The Boers had hauled the women into the cave with ropes. The women desired to be released, but the British found it impossible to release them.
