Arahura Live Stock Market.

, Mark Bprot and Co report their sales as follows; At Atahura on the 4th inst, we held one of the largest sales of store cattle ever held on the West Coast. The entry consisted of 800 bead from Canterbury, about 100 head locally bred and 60 mixed Nelson cattle. Buyers were present from all parts of the district and 'Competed eagerly up to unprecedented jprices throughout. Buyers gave an erneat •of their intentions at the outset by taking the first line of 82 head of Messrs Fitzgerald Bros’ draft at £6 15s. The whole of the entry was cleared at the following prices Forward conditioned three and four year steers £7 10s to £6 15s; 2-year steers, £5 ; 3-year heifers £4 10s; mixed yearling steers and heifers at £3; second calf, springers £6.

Prices showed a further dqpideid advance and the entry was cleared at prices in favour of vendors. We sold : On account of Mr H. Deidriohs. 36 -prime bullocks from £l2 and £8 5s respectively. The imports of * refined sugar decreased £278,000. Unrefined sugar increased by 24,200 owt. but the Quantity decreased in value by £BO,OOO. The decrease in coal exports amounted to £1,250,000 compared with last September. Copper on spot is. £63 10s; three months £63 7s 6d. Tin, forward is £lO6 7s 6d. Lead £lll7s 6d.
