By the Paparoa, which arrived from Home on Saturday morning, there came for ihe Government two Ayshire bulls bought from John Hutchinson of Ayr; two short-horn heifers from Lord Rothschild ; one short-horn bull from Shill of Lichfield; and one short-horn heifer from F. Webb of Lichfield. Government Veterinary. S. Burton, one of the newly-appointed veterinary surgeons also came by vessel. Foundry Gutted by Fire. Auckland, October 5. The fitting, machine, and pattern department of Masefield’s foundry was gutted by fire this morning. The premises were insured in the New Zealand for £4OOO of which £2,000 covers the portion affected. The damage is estimated at £I,OOO. ' Catholic Jubilee. ‘ Wellington, This Day, About two thousand Roman Catholics marched through the sireets of the city yesterday headed by acolytes in honor of the Jubilee of their church.
