Under the Land Act Amendment Bill, the introduction of which Duncan gave notice of yesterday, provision is made for preventing reckless setting fire to, or burning of fallen bush and rubbish, where injury is likely to result to adjoining settlers. Another clause deals with the cultivation of pastoral runs to provide winter feed for stock. Bush tenants are to bo relieved from payment of rent during the period (from two to four years) before they can obtain any yield from their land. Another clause is designed for the encouragement of Ostrich farming.
