Avondale Races—First Day.

The Avondale Joekey Club qpened the season with the first day's spring meeting at Ellerslie course to-day, when the weather was fine and the attendance good. The innovation of paying on the first and second horses was introduced on the tote, and on eight races the smr of £9424 was passed through the machines, an increase on the corresponding day of last year of £4597. The results are :
