Received this day at 9 50 a.m. London, September 20. McKinley memorial services were held everywhere. • Business in London was largely suspended. A vast congregation attended the service at Westminster Abbey, including Choate, his wife and many Americans, and the Agent-Generals of the various colonics. The King cabled Choate from'the Continent: “Our thoughts are especially with the American nation when her distinguished President is laid to rest.” The Queen sent an autograph letter of sympathy to Mrs. McKinley. Washington, September 20. Tons of floral tributes were sent to Canton, including wreaths bearing the names of rulers and statesmen. King Edward’s wreath was taken to McKinley’s house and placed on the coffin when proceeding to the church.
