Central America Beaten. New York, Sept. 20. The Venezuelan and Columbian Liberal forces were badly defeated by the Columbian Government troops at Riokaoha. The Venezuelan General was amongst the captured.

Colonial Exhibition. London, Sept. 20. An Australian and New Zealand Exhibition under the auspicioa of the Australian Ohamber of Commerce projected at Earlsoourt for 1908, will not be held unless all the Commonwealth States are represented. A large guarantee fund is being organised. All the Agents-General excepting Tozer and Beeves who were absent approve, though they have not committed their bankers, and commercial men support the proposal. It is to be hoped that the Australian Chambers of Commerce will co-operate. The King’s patronage is confidently anticipated.

Australian Shipping Owners. London, September 20.

Chamberlain informed ship owners interested in Australian trade that he was telegraphing to Lord Hopetoun in reference to the Interstate Commission Bill, and bad read the objections thereto.
