Sydney, September 18. The report of the committee appointed to enquire into the tied houses’ question, has been tabled.
The report generally condemns the system and states that ninety per cent of the public houses of Sydney and suburbs are tied and alleges Sunday trading, subletting bars and other evils in the trade are largely due. to the system. Women’s Franchise. Deceived this day at 9 84 a. m. Sydney, Sept 19.
The Women’s Franchise Bill was strongly opposed in the Legislative Connoil. A motion to adjourn the second reading and debate was carried against the Dovernment by 22 to 20. Esquimaux Dogs. Seventy three esquimaux dogs have arrived for the German Antarctic expedition.
