WEST COAST COAL EXPORT.

The following was the export of coal from the ports of Greymouth and Westport for the week ended Saturday last,—

h The dance given by the Star, Football Club as a welcome to the Westport Rivals was held in the Drill Hall last night, and proved to be one oP the most successful football dances ever held in the Grey, about 80 couples occupying the floor till 1 80 this morning, whilst the proceedings were enlivened by the address and welcome 'given by Messrs Pogler (Vicoj President) and McPherson (Captain) of the Stars to the Westport team who have already earned great esteem by their quiet gentlemanly manners. During the evening Mr J. M. Hamilton, President of the Star Football Club, made a speech in connection with the presentation of the medal to Mr B. White for being the best forward in the team, whilst Mr Sweetman earned similar honors for being the choice of tbe back division, each recipient being greeted with loud applause as the coveted and well merited trophies were pinned on by Miss Helms. Songs were given by Miss Ozenbam, Messrs Mitchell, Harley, and Trerise, whilst Mr Craig gave a recitation) and extras were played by Misses Easson and Oxenham. ToS 'mueh'praise cannot be showered upon Misses PegUr, Helms, Oxenham and Bradshaw wtfc as the Ladies committee left nothing undone to make the function so brilliant a success and* which in the future promises to be an annual and popular fixture. Tbe music was! supplied by Messrs Perrotti (piano) and Seabrook (cornet).
