THE ANGLICAN SYNOD.

Wklmkgton, September 12. A special session of the Anglican General Synod was held to-day, the purpose being that the trustees of the Porirua College endowment might receive from the Synod farther directions for utilising and protecting the estate in accordance with the terms of trusteeship. The Primate , presided, and in his ad- . dress stated that he had received a letter tfrom'the Bishop of London, in which the : latter states it to be the opinion of the • Archbishop of Canterbury and himself, that it would be best to hand over to the church in New Zealand the islands in the Pacific now considered to be under the control of the Bishop of London. Ho would lay the whole matter before the ordinary Synod, but in the meantime would refer it for consideration to a special coinmitteeo to frame some scheme. The Primate also mentioned that the Bishop of Wellington would leave next week on a visit to Fiji.
