AUCKLAND LOAN PROPOSALS.

Auckland, September 11. The poll of ratepavers on the proposals of the City Council "to borrow £IOO,OOO for city improvements was takeu to-day. Seven proposals were submitted —namely Fire Brigade, £12,000 ; paving of streets, £8,000; extension of water supply, £25,000; abattoirs, £5,000 ; refuse destructor, £IO,OOO ; town hall, £26,000 ; purchase of allotments, £14,000. The first five -were carried by a large majority, but the town hall and purchase of allotments' proposals were defeated.
