PAROA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A special meeting of the Paroa School Committee was held last night to consider the departure of Mr. Wickes, who has severed his connection with the school. Since his appointment, almostt hree years ago, he has given general satisfaction to the Committee ana to the parents of the children attending the school. He has spared no trouble to advance the children in their studies, which is testified to by the high results obtained at the annnal examinations.. His departure is much regretted. All the members of the Committee were present except Mr. Keith. Mr. Dowling occupied the chair. It was proposed by Mr. Colton, and seconded by Mr. Dowling, “That this Committee consent with exceeding regret to the transfer of Mr. Wickes to the! Blackball School, but are highly pleased!, that he has been appointed to a larger and more lucrative position. i
Proposed by Mr. Ferish and seconded! by Mr. McGowen, “ That the Committee present Mr. Wickes with a testimonial.’* Proposed by Mr. M’Gowen ' and seconded by Mr. Colton “ That the action of Mr. Dowling re temporary appointments of school staff, viz,—Mies Kemple, head teacher, and Miss K. Byrne, assistant teacher, be endorsed."
