Bbisbanb, Augnst 29, The Parliamentary Elections Bill introduced in the Assembly, contains some advanced electoral reforms. It proposes to give a vote to every male or female over 21 years. It also gives the father of two or more legitimate children one vote extra. It provides for voting by post. More Murder. A telegram from Taroom states that a single girl named Nelly Jounqnay, was found murdered ia the cemetery,

Jounquay's body was terribly mutilated and the child's skull smashed. An Aboriginal named Gilbert arrested on suspicion swallowod strychine and has since died.

A Fraudulent Accountant. Melbourne, Aug. 29. „ A deficiency of about £IO,OOO was discovered in ' the Melbourne University funds. Fred T. J. Dickson, the accountant through whose hand the moneys passed, was arrested after examination of the books.

MELBOURNE, Aug 30. Dickson will be charged with embezzling sums orer £4OOO, It is reported that the defalcations extended over fifteen years. Racing is supposed to be the cause. Not Wanted.

Sydney, August 30. A meeting of millers and flour merchants discussed the unsatisfactory state of the breadstuffs market caused by the putting of prices and the large harvest surplus expected in the early part of the year. It was decided that leading brands of flour be £6 15s and second brands £6 12s 6d be recommended, and that the Federal Treasurer place a duty of a shilling per cental on wheat and two shillings per cental on the produce of wheat.

Received this day at 9 52 a.m. Communication with Tasmania. Melbourne, August 30. The evidence given before the committee appointed to enquire into better means of communication with Tasmania, favour a daily service with fast turbine steamers under Commonwealth control.

Gheap Meat. The Assembly appointed a committee to consider the auestion of supplying cheaper meat, fresh, or frozen.

The Sugar Industry. In the Assembly the Premier, in reply to a proposal to establish a State sugar refinery, said it would be madness for the Government to embark further sums in the industry at the present stage, as it was possible that in a few years no sugar would be grown in the State. Those who had tried to grow it with white labor had failed.

The Prospects of New Guinea. Received this day 9 33 a.m. BTONEY, August 30. Le Hunte. the Lieut-Governor of New Guinea is visiting Sydney. He favorably views the prospects of the possibilities of the revenue increasing. Trade output is steadily expanding and cultivation spreading. The Natives are gradually replacing savage oustoms with civilised ideas. The great drawback is the unwillingness to permit bona fide companies to take up large areas. If under Commonwealth the wiser counsels prevail, the industries would rapidly expand.
