Forest Fires. London, August 26.
Damage to the extent of £IO,OOO sterling has been done by forest fires in Bussia. The Daily Mail states that it is suspected that timber merchants originated the fire in order to secure salvage.
Wireless Telegraphy. Ottawa, August 26. The Canadian Government are establishing wireless telegraphy with the Belle Isle light station for the use of shipping. Swimming the English Channel. London, August 26. Holbeim, the ex-champion cyclist, who attempted to swim the English Channel from Quesnez to Dover abandoned it, being exhausted after being thirteen hours in water and five miles from Dover.
