Received this day, at 10 25 a.m. London, August 21. The Daily Express states that Kruger’s agents made a secret bid for a French canon shown at the military exhibition at Earl’s Court in London. Kitchener mentions the following for conspicuous bravery:— Western Australians—Captain Campbell, Lieuts Bell, Reed, Forrest, and Brown.
Queenslanders—Lieuts Cameron and Rees.
South Australian—Captain Langley. New Zealanders —Captain Bauchop, Surgeon Captain O’Neill. Victorian—Veterinary Lieut Sherlock, After a meeting cf Boer leaders in Belgium to discuss Kitchener’s proclamation. Leyds admitted the improbablity of European intervention. Wellington, This Day. The following troopers returned by theWaihora tins morning:—Fifth Contingent, Sergeant Delatown and Trooper F. R. Petrall; Fourth Contingent, Troopers A. C. Subtle, G. Scown, G. Pinlater and J. Orr; Seventh Contingent, Trooper E. Sharphiaa; South African Light Horse, Corporal Griffiths, Troopers Dashwood, Sutherland, Watson, Powdrell, Chapman; Kitchener’s Horse (fighting scouts), Troopers Hamilton and Juriss.
