A BRUNNERTON GROWL.
(To the Editor.) Bib, —The city lathers of the Brunner Borough Council are a happy lot to pull together; you pull with me and I will pull with you. Some time ago the Government granted a certain sum of money to be expended on the Brunner-Blackball road under the 00-operation system ; but they put on men of their own choice, at ten shillings a day, when they could have put on eight or nine men and work to advantage. There are a great number of men out of employment, who asked for work, but was told there was none for them. I suppose it is because they are not of the right colour ; but they are expected to pay their rates all the same, and bo civil and not say a word. Why should they expend the money just as they like, and ignore the Government. I understand the 00-operative system is to give every man a chance to live. I am and etc.—
