BRUTAL SPECTACLE IN A BOLL RING.

The ‘Matin’ publishes an account of a brutal exhibition which took place recently in the bullring at Algeciras. Some time ago a bullfighter named Don Tancredo caused a tremendous sensation by posing as a statute in the middle of the bullring. There, holding his brerdi, ho stood so motionless that the bull, after snuffing all around him, left him alone At A'geoiras the other day a man named Nicholas Lopez came forward to emulate Tancredo’s achievement. The president or the ring was extremely unwilling to allow Lopez to try his skill, but was overborne by the wishes of the spectators. Somewhat pale and trembling Lopez entered the ring and took his stand on the pedestral, but when the door of the hub’s pen was opened the animal refused to come out. With great relief Lopez was preparing to retire, but was greeted with such a storm of hoots from the defrauded populace that ho again mounted the pedestral and a fresh bull was turned loose. This time the spectators were not cheated. Charging straight at the unfortunate Lopez, the bull overthrew man and pedestal, and then gored the helpless body till it was almost unrecognisable. The populace (concludes the ‘ Matin’s ’ correspondent) were mad with delight, shouting and clapping their hands as the remains of Lopez were carried away.
