THE IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT.
The Factory Bill. [per PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.] London, August 14. Ritchie raised a storm by accepting in committee, W. Redmonds amendment to exempt from the Factory Bill the inspection of Convent laundries. Burns deplored the attitude of the Irish members in favoring inequality and competition with workers outside. Many Unionists protested against the discrimination. Ritchie explained that the arrangement was mean to save the Bill from obstruction in detail, and he then moved the exemption of all laundries, which was carried by 287 against 65. A special Bill dealing with laundries is promised.
