SOUTH SEA ISLAND TROUBLES.

News has been received that the German cruiser Cormoran landed parlies of sailors to punish the natives at St Mathias Island in connection with, the murder of Moneko. The natives were surrounded and surprised, but fought determinedly, eighty being killed and 17 prisoners taken and sentenced to deportation with hard labour on plantations. Another, outrage is reported from New Britain. . The natives attacked a German trade named Wolff and killed bis wife and na tive boy. Wolff defended himself unti the arrival of assistance.
