ATTEMPTED ROBBERY OF A BANK.

Stdnby, August 6. Last night two armed masked men entered the Bank of New South Wales at Henty. Meeting the accountant in the passage they forced him into the room where Lamport, the manager, was sitting, and ordered the latter to put up his hands. Instead he drew a revolver and fired two shots.' One returned the fire, shooting Lamport through the chest. The bullet is imbedded in his back. The men without, stopping to secure any booty got clear away.’ It js believed that one pf thom is wounded. The bullet was extracted from Lamport, and he is progressing favorably. Two brothers (Menton) were arrested in bed a mile from Henty (one wounded in the arm) on suspicion of being concerned in the sticking-up.
