Porter of the Seventh Contingent dated 3rd, "Everything well The Seventh behaving splendidly, greatly praised by Commanders. All wounded recovered and out of danger.” Rating on Unimproved Values. , Auckland, This Day. A poll on the question of adopting rating on unimproved values is proceeding. A heavy poll is expected and the result isjdoubtful. To Gain Information. Gow, the Commissioner of Trade and Commerce, proposes to leave the colony on his mission on the 17th inst. The first port of call will probably be Capetown, but beyond that his movements are uncertain. Returned Troopers. Mr Guinness yesterdayinteryiewed the Premier who informed him that volunteers of the Fourth and Fifth Contingents were entitled to one month’s furlough and that all members of the Contingents will have the right to use their rifles on condition that they return same to Government when called upon.
