The Grey Monarch Gold Dredging Company.
The report of the directors of the Grey Monarch Company, to be submitted at the annual meeting of shareholders on the 31st inst., states that after the excellent results obtained by the Grey liiver Company's dredge, which, in the opinion of experts, proved the Grey Monarch's claim, it was deemed advisable in December last to advertise for a dredge already constructed, but the tenders were not satisfactory. Messrs Cutten Brothers were instructed to prepare plans for a dredge capable of working to a depth of 35ft, but by an error, tenders were called for a machine capable of dredging 30 feet only. By this time it had become apparent that the depth of the wash varied, and it was decided to bore the company’s claim, and a start was made- in June. Up to the present one bore has been finished in the centre of the claim, and bottomed at 43 feet. Arrangements have been made with the directors of the Grey Eiver No 2 Coinpany to share the cost of a bore on the boundaries of the two claims. The Ruby Creek Company’s dredge, whose claim adjoins upstream the Grey Monarch Company, will be starting at an early date, and should he a valuable guide as to future operations. Mr W. Acton-Adams has resigned, and Mr Thomas Jones has retired by ballot from the directorate. The latter offers himself for re-election, and another director will require to bo elected in Mr ActonAdam’s place.
