Hopetoun received a farewell letter from the Yorks on the eve of departure from Fremantle. The Duke will ever remember the memorable and stirring days which he witnessed at Australia’s new political birth, and wished to express his warmest thanks for the kindness received. He speaks highly of the cadet movement in j which he thinks lies a strong power for good. He was also struck with the educational advantages provided for childrent. He took leave of the colonies with many regrets. The Commonwealth and people will ever have a warm place in their hearts.
