A persual of the figures now available both for the A.M.P, Society’s New Zealand branch, and the Government Life Insurance Department of that colony, shews the high position attained by the A.M.P. ’ Society in Maoriland. The Society’s Branch Office during the year li)00 issued 2,453 new policies, assuring £592,850. The Government Department issued 3,214 policies, assuring £550,129, The net increase of business for the year after deducting all void polices amounted to 1,215 polices, assuring £288,096 for the A.M.P. Society, against 1,002 policies, assuring £138,870 for the Government Department. We exclude annuity contracts from the comparison. In tabular form, the r suits for the year 1900 are as follows; — A.M.P. (N.Z. Branch). Policies Assuring. New Business ... 2,453 £592,850 Net increase of business ... 1,215 281,097 N.Z. Govt. Ins. Thus, although the N. Z. Department secured 761 new. assurances of £57,279 in all in excess of those effected with_ theSociety, its net increase was . 213 policies less and £149 226 assured less than the A.M.P,
