QUARTZ MINING REPORTS.

New Scotia —The mine manager reports for the week :—During the week No 1 level has been extended 20 feet, total distance driven by contractors 210 i feet. There is very little change in this place; the general appearance of the country is about the same as last reported. The rise in the Gallant has been extended a further distance of 83 feet for the week, total distance risen on the reef 25 feet. The stone for that distance is from 2 feet to 3 feet 6 inches wide. The reef at the top of the rise has a better appearance than when started on, being more mineralised and a little freer to break.

Kbep-it-Dark. —Report for month ended July 27: 929 tons of stone have been stoped out and sent to the battery for the month. The reef in the stopes is keeping about the usual size and no change to report. The winze from No. 3 level has been sunk 25 feet for the month, total depth 73 feet, The reef is still strong, no hanging wall showing. The underlay has been a little more for the last ten feet. No. 3 level west has been extended 15 feet; the reef keeps about the same size, five to six feet; the total distance driven on the new block is 35 feet. The whole of the packages in connection with the new winding engine have been delivered and the erection is now proceeding. The returns for the month are as followsßattery, 2590 z 2dwt 15gr gold from 940 tons ; cyanide, 114 oz 3dwts gold; total, 3740 z Idwt 15gr.
