(ran pbbss association). Wellington, This Day. The House met at 10 30. In reply to questions it was stated that it was hot intended to ask an appropation this year for payment of capitation aijthe ntf of £3 10s par annum to garrison; artillery, and submarine miners defence,
The Estimate was already so high that if there was any further increase Parliament might curtail them.
That the services of Captain Moore, a garrison artillery officer had been obtained for the colony. That Government was afraid to promise to reduce the mortgage tax. It could not be fulfilled unless another turn of the screw was made in regard to the Graduated Land tax.
That there was no intention of holding two sessions next year. That the matter of the representation of the colony at the King’s Coronation would be placed fully before the House.
