A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
A Terrific Gale.

Wellington, July 23. Captain Oliver, of the barque G. M. Tucker, reports fearful weather on the voyage across from Newcastle. The sails were blown away, rigging damaged, and the forecastle knocked about. The officers and crew suffered privations and most of them bear evidences of injury received during the buffeting about ryhich the vessel received. On Thursday week the barque was off Cape Farewell, but was blown 120 miles out to sea by a south-west gale. The Chief Officer was washed overboard, but was pulled back on deck by catching the foot of one of the crew. The supply of fresh water gave out, hut the ship’s company managed to condense sufficient water for their requirements. ' The Captain states that the voyage was the worst in the whole of his long experience.
