RACING CONFERENCE.

Kumara and Hokitika Dates.

[our own correspond bnt.] Wellington, July 20. There was a long and stiff debate over the Kumar a and Hokitika dates. Petrie and Hood-Williams were very strong for Kumara, while Evans, Northcroft, and the Canterbury delegates gave evidence in favour of Hokitika. When the report was brought up before the Conference the Kumara supporters swept everything before them, getting an almost unanimous vote in favour of Kumara getting Easter Monday and Tuesday, Hokitika is required to select other dates to the satisfaction of the Chairman of the Conference.
