LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.

Wellington This Day.
A return of the lands acquired by the Crown for Settlement purpose, and now under negotiations for purchase up to 81st March last was presented to Parliament yesterday. The lands acquired total 388,493 acres at a total cost of £1.866,971, and the robding liabilities total £30,000 The land acquired during 1900 for workmen’s homes was 902 acres, and for ordinary settlement 82,974 acres; the cost of which exclusive of reading and survey was £356,850. The approximate number of farms is 177, aud of worKmen’s homes 150.
The land now under negotiations for purchase or acquisition is 144,000 acres for ordinary settlement, and for workmen’s home 750 acres.
