■ -o:o The Cobden School.
(our own correspondent.) Wellington, This Day. Messrs Guinness, Kerr, and Petrie, interviewed the Minister of Education relative to a vote for Cobden School. After a long discussion the Minister agreed to put £4OO on the estimates, and in the meantime advance £3OO against the vote. The Borough Loan. The A.M.P. Society Board meet te-day, when the Greymouth Loan Proposal will be considered. Mr Petrie asks for a lesser rate of interest than on last loan. The Racing Conference. The Racing Conference commenced at eleven to-day. There is going to-be a brisk conflict over a good many points, including Kumara and Hokitika dates. A strict can • vass on the latter subject has boen made. Wellington Races. The Wellington Racing Club paying on first and second horses yesterday was a great success, and met with general approval. The West Coast horse “Hotu” won the Winter Hurdles with the greatest ease. He is a greatly improved herse.
