There is magnificenct weather for the opening day of the Wellington Eacing Club's Winter Meeting. The course is in splendid order and the attendance above the average. The following are tho results •. — MAIDEN STEEPLECHASE. NipapQ 1 Gobo * Mangatera 3 Scratched—Perseverance and Ngatihui Won by six lengths. Hutana and Lenorefell. Time 4min 2isecs. D;vs Nipapu £3 2s and Gobo 17s.
STEWARD S HANDICAP. Jabber 1 Ostiak 2 Stepina 3 Scratched —Sundial, Tukapo, and Laurestina. Won by two lengths, half a length between second and thiid. Time 1 34. Divs, Jabber £4 19s, and Ostiak £lls. MAIDEN HACK. Snooze 1 Mooi 2 Bonne Esperance 3 Scratched—Woodleigh. Seanster Lass, Indiana, Forward Guard, Insurgent, and Shelter. Won by a nose. A great finish. Time, 122 3-5. Divs Snooze £1 17s, Mooi £5 6s, WINTER HURDLES. Hotu } Derringcotte 2 Bodara 3 All started. Won by two lengths. A neck between second and third. Time 45. Divs Hotu £5 3s, Derringcotte £5 7s.
