THE RETURNED TROOPS.

(PEB PBBSS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, July 15. The transport Tagus made a smart passage from Port Chalmers and was moored at Wellington at noon. Notwithstanding her unexpectedly early arrival there was a large attendance of the public at the wharves, and a hearty reception given ta the troops.

The Premier and Mayor of Wellington addressed words of welcome to the men, who were then set at liberty and went ashore with their friends.

It was announced by the Premier that an ample supply of rifles for the rifle clubs was expected, and would be available in the course of a few weeks.
