Cattle Raids Frustrated.
Scouts Bravery.
Beceived this day at 8 38 a.m. London, July 14. Of eight scouts engaged at Smalldeel in frustrating the Boor cattle raid, three were killed and five wounded. The laiter lay on the ground firing until the Eoyal scouts came up and cleared away the enemy.
Boers attempted to raid a big herd near Pretoria, but after a sharp fight at close quarters were repulsed with loss.
A rebel named Coetzee a farmer of Mafeking wassenteaced publicly to death. The accused harboured Boers who surrendered and then killed a number of British. The Waimate has been chartered to sonvey remounts to South Africa. After discussions in Parliament respeotragthe accuracy of reports of Eeutors agency in reference to the reported capture of Commandant Meyer's convoy at Warm Baths by Lord Kitchener's scouts, under Colonel Wilson last month. Lord Kitchener admits that the scouts surprised and dispersed Pretorious not Meyer's commando, while escorting a oonvoy.
