Auckland, July 12. The girl Minns has admitted to the police that her sensational story re burning the Grand Hotel is an entire fabrication. She took the whole story from a novelette entitled “Fred and the Miner.”

The mother of the girl Minns interviewed, said the girl admitted the whole story including the powder and fuse, and nicknames of men, and their description was from the same novelette. The girl complained to the police that they tried to put words into her mouth and she decided to stuff the sub-inspector.
