Dunedin, This Day, At the Police Court, two settlers were charged with allowing foul matter to flow into Boss Creek, thereby polluting the northern reservoir from which the chief city water supply is obtained. Defendants, both of whom were in the place before the reservoir was thought of, one having lived in the place for over 40 years and the other for over 50 years, have their cow byres and pigstyes on the slope of the hill, which all slopes m the direction of the creek. The evidence did not show that the drainage reached the creek but the inference was that it made its way there. The Justices, while admitting the hardship of the cases, said that law must be enforced as they found it They were convicted, and a tine ot 10s imposed in the first case, but it was agreed to delay fixing a penalty until Monday so that an appeal can be la-d.
