Sydney', July 11.
Enquiries show that William Dashwood and Walter Butt (engineers), John Nicholl and Eobcrt Malcolm (packers), perished in Hordern’s fire.
The faihire of men to return to their homes last night led to the discovery that there were other victims.
Dashwood and Parett were attending the engines in the basement of the build ing, and were warned to flee. Two of their companions got out through the door. It is supposed that the missing men tried to escape by the window, not knowing that it was guarded by iron bars. Meantime the fire spread so rapidly that the retreat to the door was cut off.
Nicholl and Malcolm were with Clegg on the upper floor. The fireman who warned them to flee for their lives had f;reat difficulty in escaping, and it is beieved that they feared to face the burning stairway and made their way to the roof.
The onlookers state that they saw a second man topple back into the flames just before Clegg jumped.
Preparations are being made to dynamite tne walls.
The Horderns were doing business in the exhibition building all day.
