The state of Parties is Ministerial 40. Opposition 40, Labor 25, Independents 22. Both sides claim a victory. The Leader of the Labor Party asserts that no compact exists with Government. Against this it may be sot up as a curious fact that in no instance did tho Ministerial candidate opposo tin Labjr one. \a miny of the Independents will probabl> go with the winning side victory may br said to rest with the Government. Foriytwd new members were returned. Th« Labor Party gained seven seats and los: one.
Sydney, July 4. The latest returns show that Fitzgerald, (a member of the Cabinet) is defeated Parliament meets on July 23rd.
