MINING MEETINGS.
Eosa Day Dawn.—At a special meeting of shareholders in the Ross Day Dawn Company (Mr N. Wales presiding) a proposal to appoint an additional director was negatived by 1,878 votes to 725. The Chairman having announced that it was necessary to raise £1,500 of additional capital, in orders that the dredge might be started free from debt, the directors were empowered to raise £1,500 by preferential shares, or as an alternative to issue debentures for that sum. Isiand Cheek.-—A. meeting of tho above company was held at Duhedin on Saturday. The Chairman (Mr J. H. Hancock) said that tho directors had hoped that tho increase of capital authorised at the last ' meeting would have fully met their difficulty, but they now found it was not sufficient. They would require further *; capital. There was at present practically a deficiency of £996, so shareholders would see that the further capital asked for was really required. It was decided to increase the capital to £6,000 by the creation of 1,000 new shares, and the directors were empowered to raise the sum to £6,250 if they have legal power to do so.
