Emigration to South Africa.
London, July 3. At a conference of Womens 1 Societies of London it was decided to encourage emigration of British women to South Africa, to marry British settlers. The Liberal Split. Lord Roseberry has been invited to take the Chair at the banquet to Asquith. The language used by Hon. Bannaman during his speech at Southampton has irrated the Imperialist-Liberals. Earl Russell's Bigamy Case. Earl Russell appeared and knelt at the bar of the House of Lords, and asked for the postponment of his trial in order to prepare the defence. The request was granted. German Bank Failure. Received this day at 9 10 a m. Berlin, July 3. There have been several heavy failures in Germany consequent upon the collapse of the Leipiqer Bank. Japan &nd Korea. Tokio, July 3. It is reported tbat Korea has requested Japan to withdraw her postal official and close the post office in Korea. Russian Drought. St. Petersburg, July 3. Drought has occurred in the province of Saratoff in Southern Russia. A famine is feared.
