WELLINGTON SUPREME COURT
(PHB PEBSS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, This Day. The sittings of the Supremo Court were held to-day before the Chief Justice. The only criminal case was that of Charlos Watson brought up for sentence on a charge of indecently assaulting his own daughter. He had pleaded guilty in the lower Court and was sentenced to two years.
A decree nisi was granted in divorce cases Beamsley t. Beamsley and Jewett v. Jewett, both husbands petitions on grounds of desertion. There was no appearance of respondent in either case. In his address to the Grand Jury his Honor made a few remarks on the jury system, defending it from the recent attacks and expressing dissent from those who advocated the abolition of either grand or common juries.
