Bbisbank, This Day. The Premier considers it questionable, if advisable, to make further Government advances to the sugar industry in face of Barton's statements on colored labor.
.. For South Africa. Hobabt, This Day. The Agent-General has arranged for the sale, to be delivered in South Africa, of one million seven hundred and forty thousand pounds of jam and one hundred and twenty-three thousand bushels of oats.

Tasmanian Sweeps.
Lord Hopetoun assented in the Senate to the petition from Tasmania presented against the alteration in law regarding sweeps, and declared that if the present arrangements were altered Tasmania would lose £20,000 and Commonwealth £50,000 revenue annually. Findley seeks Re-election. Findley intends to contest the vacant 'seat of the assembly for East Melbourne.
